PRAYER INTENTIONS
 
 
It is our hope that Felician Sisters all over the world will incorporate these intentions into their daily Morning or Evening Prayer, Prayers of the Faithful at Mass or in other meaningful settings in order to unite our hearts with each other in praying for our brothers and sisters in need of healing, in need of peace, in need of justice.   May they also move us to act where we can to make healing, peace and justice happen in the lives of those for whom we pray.
 
 
At the end of each monthly set of intentions, are several suggestions to engage us in putting our prayer into action. Feel free to share both the prayers and suggested actions with those with whom you live, work and share community.

JANUARY
INTENTION:      To pray for and to bring to our awareness the sufferings of those who are being abused through the practice of human trafficking.
 
  • For the Church, its leaders and all of God's people that they may be strengthened to continue in the struggle to alleviate the trafficking of women and children.
  • For all nations to work together to end human rights' abuses, especially the trafficking of women and children.
  • For those who suffer the atrocities of human trafficking, that they may find healing and new life through the grace of God and the care of others.
  • For those responsible for the trafficking of human beings, that they may be touched by God's grace to seek the path of justice and to respect the dignity of human life.
  • For those who give tirelessly of their time, talents and resources to provide information to the world about human abuses, assistance to those abused and inspiration to those seeking justice.

FEBRUARY
 
INTENTION:      To pray for and to bring to our awareness the sufferings of those who are addicted to alcohol and drugs, and the consequences of these behaviors.
 
  • For those who are addicted to substances or behaviors that are harmful and destructive to themselves and to those who are part of their lives.
  • For the families of people who are addicted that they may have the strength and faith to intervene and break the cycle of addiction that is destroying their loved ones.
  • For support groups, health professionals, caregivers and treatment center staffs who are there to help heal those who are addicted.
  • For those working to end the trafficking of illegal substances that destroy individuals, break up families and are the cause of violence and crime.
  • For mothers who are addicted to alcohol and drugs and for their infants who are addicted at birth.
 
  • For those in recovery from substance abuse that they have the courage and faith to remain steadfast in their resolve.

INTENTION:      To pray for and to bring to our awareness the sufferings of the elderly and the lack of adequate healthcare.
  • For church leaders that they may be aware of the struggles and needs of the elderly and work to encourage all members to honor and respect the wisdom of the elders, as they work or a just, peaceful and caring existence for all.
  • For government leaders and all those who have the political and financial power to provide for the healthcare needs of all, especially the elderly.
  • For all of us that we may follow in the footsteps of Blessed Mary Angela and be strengthened as witnesses of God in our mission to the sick, the elderly and those who live alone.
  • For the elderly and all those who yearn for health that they may receive proper healthcare and that their needs may be met with dignity and respect after the example of the Good Samaritan.
  • For all those who will meet their Lord today, that they may die with dignity, knowing that they are loved, cherished and respected.

  • For all God’s people that we become more aware of the sacred in our world so that we respect, restore and renew the gifts of creation.
  • For wisdom to protect human health and the quality of life especially the living and working environments of the poor from pollution and environmental degradation.
  • For strengthening those values that place the needs of people and the environment above profit making.
  • For all of us that we ask for guidance in restoring the face of the earth, show us the way to care for the earth not just for today but also for ages to come.

INTENTION:     To pray for and to bring to our awareness the sufferings of those who are unemployed.
 
  • For unemployed people that they will not lose their hope of finding work, which will assure them and their families a suitable existence.
  • That governments deal fairly with unemployed people by providing access to housing,  food, medical aide, education and other social services.
  • For youth who look for jobs and for all who are in difficult situations, that the lack of food, shelter, medical care and other needs will not lead them to violate their conscience.
  • For the families of the unemployed, who face humiliation, deprivation and disappointment because of the lack of necessities, will receive assistance from legitimate organizations.
  • That the United Nations, other world organizations and local governments find effective and immediate solutions to unemployment, especially in those countries most in need.

  • For all families who suffer from any form of domestic violence and lack the comfort of a safe home.
  • For individuals who have witnessed physical violence to another family and harbor this within themselves out of fear of telling anyone.
  • For all who work with those suffering from domestic violence, that they minister with compassion, love and understanding.
  • For those who cause domestic violence that the Holy Spirit may effect their conversion to end the terrorizing of their family members.
  • For family members who are experiencing depression, fear, anxiety and anger because of domestic violence.
  • For healing of all who suffer from any form of physical, psychological and mental violence that they be open to the love God has for them.

INTENTION:     To pray for and to bring to our awareness the conditions and consequence of unfair labor practices.
 
  • That a human person not be degraded through the denial of the rights of citizenship and just human working conditions.
  • That local church communities recognize that organizations, which benefit workers, are living forms of witness to faith and concrete solutions for the realization of the Reign of God.
  • That Christians seek to denounce and to struggle against discrimination, prejudice and exploitation to which women are subjected – lower salaries in the same job as men and demands of certification of non-pregnancy and sterility as job requirements.
  • That pastoral work among youth and underage workers courageously include the denouncing of exploitation to which these young people are subjected, so that they could have access to education and leisure – the essential rights of those at this age.
  • That charity and fraternal love be much more than concrete emergency gestures of solidarity towards those who are unemployed, but active involvement in the struggle for structural changes in order to arrive at the root causes of unemployment and exclusion from society’s benefits.
  • That we be agents of awareness to help laborers know and demand their constitutional rights: the right to employment, to go on strike, to receive a just salary, to participate in the profits of the firms where employed, to a decent retirement and to have access to land in order to live and produce.

  • For children who don’t have an opportunity to learn because of a lack of material means, that they would receive financial help from wealthy people and governments.
  • For parents who ignore their children in favor of professional work, career and money, that they realize the treasures they have in their children and dedicate attention, time and care to them to prevent their loneliness and association with bad company.
  • For sick and physically challenged children that the protection, care and dedication of relatives and volunteers would relieve their pain and make their lives more cheerful and spiritually richer.

  • That corporations and countries which benefit from cheap foreign labor and inhuman working conditions, recognize the injustice of such practices and eradicate them.

  • For those who live in shelters and missions because they lack economic security, employment, proper education and accessibility to government programs.
  • For those displaced from country, family and friends due to war and famine and are forced to live in refugee camps.
  • Lord, make our hearts aware of the needs of the elderly, the sick, the homeless and all those experiencing difficulties in their daily living.

  • That those responsible for decisions regarding trade and industry be mindful of the duty of all people to protect the environment.
  • That in negotiating international trade agreements, leaders respect the democratic right and responsibility of governments to protect the well-being of their citizens, including provisions for education, healthcare and access to water.
  • That those responsible for trade and business across borders and within countries ensure that workers are provided with just remuneration and that no one, especially children, is exploited.
  • That international trade agreements provide just and fair compensation to developing nations for export commodities, and allow governments to protect local food producers and small enterprises through subsidies and assistance.

INTENTION:      To pray for and to bring to our awareness the sufferings of all those who lack

                              adequate nutrition, housing and daily assistance, especially the elderly.

 
 
  • That families may find housing that is safe and affordable.
  • That those in leadership take responsibility for making housing available to the needy.
  • For those who live in shelters and missions because they lack economic security, employment, proper education and accessibility to government programs.
  • For those displaced from country, family and friends due to war and famine and are forced to live in refugee camps.
  • Lord, make our hearts aware of the needs of the elderly, the sick, the homeless and all those experiencing difficulties in their daily living.

DECEMBER
 

INTENTION:      To pray for and to bring to our awareness the consequences of trade agreements.

 
 
  • That all international trade agreements protect human rights of all nations by putting public well-being before profit.
  • That those responsible for decisions regarding trade and industry be mindful of the duty of all people to protect the environment.
  • That in negotiating international trade agreements, leaders respect the democratic right and responsibility of governments to protect the well-being of their citizens, including provisions for education, healthcare and access to water.
  • That those responsible for trade and business across borders and within countries ensure that workers are provided with just remuneration and that no one, especially children, is exploited.
  • That international trade agreements provide just and fair compensation to developing nations for export commodities, and allow governments to protect local food producers and small enterprises through subsidies and assistance.

PRECES DIÁRIAS
 
 
Esperamos que as Irmãs Felicianas em todos os lugares do mundo incorporem diariamente estas preces nas Orações das Horas, nas  preces dos fiéis durante a Missa  ou em qualquer outro momento a fim de unir nossos corações ao rezarmos para nossos irmãos e irmãs necessitados de cura, de  paz, e de  justiça.  Que estas preces também nos inspirem para agir onde pudermos fazer acontecer a cura, a paz e a justica nas vidas daqueles para os quais nós rezamos.
 
 
No final  das preces de cada mês, seguem várias sugestões para colocar nossas orações em ação. Vocês poderão partilhar as orações e as ações sugeridas  com aqueles e aquelas com os quais vivemos, trabalhomos e partihamos comunidade.

JANEIRO

INTENÇÃO:  Rezar e nos conscientizar do sofrimento daqueles e daquelas que são vítimas do tráfico humano.

 
  • Pela Igreja, seus líderes e todo povo de Deus, para que sejam fortalecidos na sua luta contra o tráfico de mulheres e crianças.
  • Para que  todas as Nações trabalhem juntas a fim de que acabem com os  abusos contra os direitos humanos, em especial o tráfico  de mulheres e de crianças.
  • Por todos aqueles que sofrem as atrocidades do tráfico humano, para que sejam  recuperadas e, com a  graça de Deus e o carinho dos irmãos, encontrem  uma  nova vida.
  • Por aqueles que são responsáveis pelo tráfico de seres humanos, para que sejam tocados pela graça de Deus, busquem os caminhos da justiça e respeitem a dignidade da vida humana.
  • Por aqueles que incansavelmente dedicam o seu tempo, talentos e recursos a fim de levarem ao conhecimento do  mundo a situação dos abusos de seres humanos, e dêem assistência aos que sofrem abuso.

  • Escreva pelo menos uma carta em resposta ao apelo da Anistia Internacional que está  solicitando cartas sobre o assunto atual, i.e.: tráfico humano
  • Pesquisar sobre um produto que consumimos, por exemplo, chocolate, café, roupa, etc., e educar a nós mesmas e nossas irmãs sobre como a produção e a acessibilidade  do produto pode envolver tráfico humano.
 
 
 
FEVEREIRO
 

INTENÇÃO:    Rezar e nos  conscientizar  dos sofrimentos daqueles e daquelas  que são usuários do álcool e  drogas, e as conseqüências destes comportamentos.

 
 
  • Por aqueles que são dependentes químicos, cujos comportamentos são perigosos e destrutivos para si e para os outros ao seu redor.
  • Pelas famílias dos  viciados, a fim de que tenham coragem e fé para interferir e quebrar o ciclo dos vícios que estão destruindo seus entes queridos.
  • Para os grupos de apoio, profissionais da saúde, pelos que prestam auxílio e o pessoal dos  centros de tratamentos que estão a serviço dos dependentes químicos.
  • Por aqueles que lutam pelo fim do tráfico ilegal de substâncias químicas que destroem indivíduos, famílias e são causa da violência e do crime.
  • Pelas mães que são dependentes do álcool e drogas e pelos seus bebês que sofrem as conseqüências.
  • Por aqueles que estão se recuperando do abuso de substâncias químicas, para que tenham a coragem e a fé de permanecerem firmes no seu propósito.

INTENÇÃO:   Rezar e nos conscientizar dos sofrimentos dos idosos e da ausência 
                        de um sistema de  saúde adequado para atendê-los.

 
 
  • Pelos líderes da Igreja para que sejam conscientes das lutas e das necessidades dos idosos e que trabalhem no sentido de encorajar todos os membros a honrar e respeitar a sabedoria dos anciãos, enquanto trabalham por uma existência justa, pacífica e protegida,  para todos.
  • Pelos líderes de governo e por todos aqueles que têm o poder político e financeiro para desenvolver um sistema de saúde que atenda a todos, especialmente aos idosos.
  • Por todos nós para que possamos seguir as pegadas da Bem-aventurada Maria Ângela e sermos fortalecidos como testemunhas de Deus na nossa missão junto aos doentes, aos idosos e aos que vivem sozinhos.
  • Pelos idosos e por todos os que anseiam por saúde; para que através de uma  assistência adequada   possam ver suas necessidades atendidas com dignidade e respeito, a exemplo do Bom Samaritano.
  • Por todos aqueles que hoje vão encontrar-se com o seu Senhor, para que eles possam morrer com dignidade, sabendo que são amados, apoiados e respeitados.

  • Para nossa Igreja e o Governo que eles reconheçam a sacralidade de toda criação e exerçam liderança  em prol de um desenvolvimento sustentável e a água potável.
  • Para todo o povo de Deus para que se conscientize da sacralidade do mundo a fim de respeitar, restaurar e renovar os dons da criação.
  • Para que os líderes  tenham sabedoria a fim de proteger a saúde humana  e a qualidade de vida especialmente do meio ambiente, do trabalho e da moradia dos pobres, contra a poluição e a degradação ambiental.
  • Para o fortalecimento dos valores que colocam em primeiro lugar as necessidades do povo  e do meio ambiente acima do acúmulo de lucro.
  • Por todos nós para que aprendamos a restaurar da face da terra, para nos mostrar como cuidar da terra, não somente para hoje, mas para o futuro.

  • Escrever uma carta a um oficial do governo pedindo que ele apóie o desenvolvimento da Meta 7 do Milênio, para garantir a Sustentabilidade do Meio Ambiente.
  • Apoiar legislação que se trata dos salários justos e condições seguras para os trabalhadores.
  • Comprar roupas e produtos que são fabricados, colheitas, produzidos ou vendidos utilizando práticas justas do trabalho.

INTENÇÃO:          Rezar e conscientizar-se dos sofrimentos dos desempregados.
 
 
  • Pelos que estão desempregados para que não percam a esperança de encontrar trabalho que assegurará para eles e suas famílias uma existência digna.
  • Que os governantes tratem de modo justo os desempregados proporcionando-lhes moradia, alimentação, assistência médica, educação e outros benefícios sociais.
  • Pelos jovens que estão procurando emprego e para todos os que estão em situações difíceis; para que a falta de comida, abrigo, assistência médica e outras necessidades não os conduzam a violar suas consciências.
  • Pelas famílias dos desempregados, que enfrentam humilhações, privações e decepções por causa de suas necessidades, para que possam ser assistidas por organizações legítimas.
  • Que as Nações Unidas, outras organizações mundiais e governos locais encontrem soluções efetivas e imediatas para o desemprego, especialmente nos países mais necessitados.

INTENÇÃO:    Rezar e  conscientizar-se da prevalência e das conseqüências da violência doméstica.

 
  • Por todas as famílias que sofrem devido a várias formas de violência doméstica e falta de conforto de um lar seguro.
  • Pelos indivíduos que têm presenciado alguma violência física contra um outro membro da família e guardam isto dentro de si mesmos por medo de revelar o fato.
  • Por aqueles que trabalham com pessoas que sofreram violência doméstica; para que ministrem  com amor, compreensão e compaixão.
  • Por aqueles que causam violência doméstica; para que o Espírito Santo provoque neles um desejo de conversão e de parar de aterrorizar os membros de sua família.
  • Pelos membros da família que estão experimentando depressão, medo, ansiedade e raiva por causa da violência doméstica.
  • Pela cura de todos os que sofrem qualquer forma de violência física, psicológica e mental; que sejam abertos ao amor que Deus tem por eles.

  • Procurar ser bem informada, você e as pessoas em nossos ministérios sobre a violência doméstica.
 
 
 
JULHO
 

INTENÇÃO:     Rezar e  conscientizar-se  sobre as condições e conseqüências
                           das injustiças no trabalho

 
 
  • Para que a pessoa humana não seja aviltada nos seus direitos de cidadania e à condições justas e humanas de trabalho.
  • Para que em nossas Igrejas locais reconheçamos e desenvolvamos a compreensão de que as organizações dos trabalhadores (Movimentos Sindicais, Populares) são formas vivas de testemunhar a fé, e explicitação concreta de fazer acontecer o Reino de Deus.
  • Para que os cristãos se empenhem na denúncia e combate a discriminações, preconceitos e exploração a que são submetidas as mulheres que recebem salários mais baixos em funções iguais as dos homens, e exigências de atestado de gravidez e esterilidade para a concessão de empregos.
  • Para que a nossa ação pastoral no meio dos jovens e menores trabalhadores assuma corajosamente a denúncia da exploração a que são submetidos, para que possam ter acesso à educação e lazer, direitos essenciais a esta idade.
  • Para que a nossa caridade e amor fraterno vão além de gestos emergenciais concretos de solidariedade para com os desempregados, e se envolva na luta por mudanças estruturais para se chegar às causas que provocam o desemprego e a exclusão social.
  • Para que sejamos agentes de conscientização a fim de que os trabalhadores conheçam e exijam os seus direitos constitucionais: direito ao emprego, à greve, ao salário justo, à participação nos lucros das empresas, aposentadoria digna e acesso à terra para morar e produzir.

INTENÇÃO:        Rezar e conscientizar-se  sobre as condições das crianças negligenciadas.
 
 
  • Pelas crianças abandonadas pelos pais desde o momento do nascimento, para que recebam proteção e carinho dos outros.
  • Pelas crianças que vivem em orfanatos ou em lares adotivos, para que as pessoas de bom coração possam amá-las e oferecer-lhes uma ambiente familiar.
  • Pelas crianças que não têm oportunidade de aprender devido à falta de meios materiais, para que possam receber ajuda financeira daqueles têm mais e dos governos.
  • Pelos pais que negligenciam seus filhos por causa de trabalhos profissionais, carreira e  dinheiro, para que possam reconhecer o tesouro que são seus filhos e dedicar-lhes atenção,  tempo e cuidados a fim de poupá-los da solidão e das más companhias.
  • Pelas crianças doentes e fisicamente deficientes, para que a proteção, cuidados e dedicação dos parentes e voluntários possam aliviar suas dores e fazer com que suas vidas sejam mais animadas e espiritualmente mais enriquecidas.

  • Que sejam desenvolvidos materiais que ajudem os refugiados e os novos migrantes a entenderem os aspectos fundamentais da vida no novo país.
  • Que haja uma profunda apreciação da linguagem, cultura e valores entre todos os povos, para que desse modo desapareçam os preconceitos, o ódio, o terrorismo e a guerra.
  • Para o fim da violação contra os direitos humanos e da intimidação aos que cruzam as fronteiras.
  • Pela aceitação de refugiados que fogem de governos repressivos e de situações políticas violentas.
  • Que as corporações e países os quais se beneficiam da mão de obra barata e das condições desumanas de trabalho, reconheçam as injustiças que estas práticas provocam e lutem por erradicá-las.

  • Ofereça-se como voluntária na cozinha dos pobres.

  • Para os homens, mulheres e crianças escravizados por empregadores  sem compaixão para que não percam a esperança na possibilidade de serem libertados.
  • Por todos aqueles que estão se esforçando para despertar a consciência das pessoas a fim de que façam alguma coisa para combater a escravidão moderna.
  • Para a conversão daqueles que tratam de maneira desumana seus funcionários.
  • Para que os Cristãos compassivos organizem uma ação efetiva nos locais onde os funcionários são escravizados a fim de que estes sejam libertados.
  • Que Deus tenha misericórdia daquelas pessoas que sofrem a degradação dos seus corpos e espíritos trabalhando em condições desumanas.

  • Para que as famílias tenham moradia segura e dentro de suas possibilidades financeiras.
  • Para que aqueles estão na liderança se responsabilizem para garantir moradia para os necessitados.
  • Por aqueles que moram em asilos e missões por lhe faltam a segurança econômica, emprego, a devida educação e acessibilidade aos programas governamentais.
  • Por todos aqueles que são deslocados  do seu país, família e amigos e forçados a viverem nos campos de refugiados devido à guerra e à fome.
  • Senhor, faça com que nossos corações estejam atentos às necessidades dos idosos, dos doentes, dos sem moradia e de todos aqueles que estão passando por dificuldades diariamente.

  • Que todos os acordos comerciais internacionais protejam os direitos humanos de todas as Nações colocando o bem-estar público antes do lucro.     
  • Que aqueles que são responsáveis pelas decisões relacionadas ao comércio e à indústria estejam conscientes do dever de todos os povos de proteger o meio ambiente.
  • Que nas negociações internacionais para os acordos comerciais, os líderes respeitem o direito democrático e a responsabilidade dos governos de promover o bem-estar dos cidadãos, incluindo provisões para a educação, para a saúde e o acesso à água.
  • Que os responsáveis pelos acordos comerciais e negócios além das fronteiras e dentro dos  países, assegurem que os trabalhadores tenham remuneração justa; e que ninguém seja explorado, de modo especial as crianças.
  • Que os acordos internacionais proporcionem compensação justa e razoável para as Nações em desenvolvimento para exportar mercadorias, e permitir aos governos proteger os produtores alimentícios locais e as pequenas empresas através de subsídios e assistência.
